Shared Decision Making

The National Quality Forum (NQF) has developed several resources to support shared-decision making in healthcare. NQF developed and launched the NQP Playbook™: Shared Decision Making in Healthcare in March 2018. This NQP Playbook™ provides essential guidance for healthcare organizations and clinicians across care settings to implement and strengthen shared decision making (SDM). With sponsorship from Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization, Inc, NQF launched the NQP Playbook™: Supporting Shared Decision Making for Individuals with Chronic Kidney Disease and End-Stage Renal Disease in July 2019. This adaptation of the 2018 NQP Playbook™ is focused on addressing the unique decision-making needs of individuals with chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease and provides practical guidance to healthcare providers and organizations on how they can implement SDM in the practices and settings where they care for individuals with these conditions.
